Making Companies Progress towards Biodiversity - Synabio Indicators
According to the Living Planet Index, the average size of wild vertebrate populations declined by 68% between 1970 and 2016 ("Living Planet Report 2020 ", WWF): in less than half a century, the numbers of about 20,000 species have fallen by two-thirds due to environmental destruction.
Biodiversity is a subject that is still poorly understood by companies. However, it is they who can have a real impact by changing their practices. It is therefore urgent that they take up this issue.
Faced with the lack of information and framework for companies wishing to commit, the Syndicat Entreprises BIO Agroalimentaires (Synabio) has published some twenty indicators aimed at improving the sector's biodiversity practices, beyond the European regulation. These indicators are the result of a year of collaborative work with a dozen organic companies such as Biocoop and Léa Nature.
