Developing Green Mobility with Hydrogen - Dijon's Commitment
In September 2020, the French government declared it wanted to make decarbonized hydrogen "the energy of France's future". As part of its national strategy, 7 billion euros must be mobilized to save more than 6 million tons of CO2 by 2030. Following this trend, initiatives are multiplying in the country.
Dijon is developing green mobility by increasing the use of renewable energies in the area. The city has launched the creation of an ecosystem for the production of hydrogen by electrolysis and distribution from green electricity.
It will gradually replace diesel vehicles - buses, refuse collection vehicles and light technical service vehicles - with low-emission vehicles using hydrogen as fuel. The city has launched two tenders for the purchase of eight refuse collection vehicles and 27 standard hydrogen-powered electric buses.
The goal is to convert the entire fleet of vehicles to hydrogen by 2030. This conversion will be the essential lever of the energy and decarbonized transition for mobility in the city.
