TF - What issues does VEGANBOTTLE address?

NM - VEGANBOTTLE packaging solutions are part of a new circular economy from earth to earth (from the plant to the compost) and help fight against the environmental impacts of traditional plastic pollution. The manufacture of VEGANBOTTLE bottles, jars and lids eliminates the need for fossil fuels and toxic additives, while reducing the CO2 footprint of packaging (compared to petrochemical plastic packaging).

TF - How does VEGANBOTTLE concretely address these issues?

NM - The company LYSPACKAGING manufactures the innovative and eco-designed VEGANBOTTLE packaging in France: bottles, jars and caps are made of biodegradable and compostable plant material from renewable resources from the co-products of sugar cane (residues). Other types of recycled natural waste can be added to create various finishes and colors (linen, shells, reed, hemp, bagasse, clay, etc...). These packagings can be reused; they do not contain endocrine disruptors. They are particularly appreciated by premium and committed food brands, but they are also finding numerous outlets in the hygiene and cosmetics industry. Used VEGANBOTTLEs can be composted at the consumer's premises along with food biowaste. To compensate for its CO2 emissions, LYSPACKAGING plants one tree for every 2,725 bottles produced; equivalent to the CO2 emissions linked to the company's activity.

TF - What would be the ideal scenario for the development of VEGANBOTTLE?

NM –

  • To accompany more and more companies in the eco-design of their packaging thanks to our design office and our R&D; for example, to develop new finishes and colors by adding new natural co-products.

  • To continue our development in France so that this type of packaging is accessible to the entire population through numerous products (food, diet, hygiene, cosmetics, home care...).

  • To expand VEGANBOTTLE's presence in Europe (already about 30% of our sales today).

  • To manufacture VEGANBOTTLE on all continents and islands. In order to avoid transporting empty packaging over long distances, LYSPACKAGING has established a system of licenses that allows the creation of international production units. The first installation was realized in Mauritius at the beginning of 2021. A second one will be set up in Guadeloupe this year.

These licenses will help meet the need for eco-responsible packaging for territories suffocated by plastic pollution and lacking sorting and recycling units for traditional packaging. The composting of packaging is therefore obvious to them.

Those 3 questions were written following the Transition Forum Call for Expressions of Interest. VEGANBOTTLE is part of the top 20 selected projects.
