Green Hydrogen for Sustainable Mobility - The Launch of Hynomed

Green hydrogen is a major lever for a decarbonized French recovery. According to the government, the industry could generate more than 100,000 jobs by 2030. To this end, the government has invested 7 billion euros, of which 2 billion should be mobilized before 2022.

Financed by Engie Solutions, the Banque des Territoires and the Var Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hynomed, a green hydrogen production and distribution company, aims to deploy a hydrogen ecosystem for land and sea mobility in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.

Its first station should be commissioned in 2022 at the Breguaillon port site, near Toulon. It will supply 7 to 10 buses, 50 light commercial vehicles and a maritime shuttle. By placing hydrogen at the heart of the port's energy mix, the system will prevent the emission of approximately 1,675 tons of CO2 per year.

The company is the first project of the Hynovar program to enter its operational phase. Originally intended to stimulate hydrogen initiatives in the Var region, this project has gone beyond its borders and is now a reference for many actors in the Southern Region of France.
